happy friday! i can hardly believe school was cancelled today due to inclement weather. what?? there is not a snowflake or a drop of freezing rain in the air. it's really crazy to say the least. but, i am enjoying letting my children sleep in this morning and i will really surprise them when they wake up and find out there is no school today. now only if there were some snow then we'd really have some fun! i will keep wishing!!

so, whatever your plans are this weekend, i hope you have a good one. we'll be at home today, starting our weekend off early and enjoying the unexpected day off from school!

happy friday. happy weekend! what are your plans for the weekend? my kids have all of next week off from school and i could not be happier. they are looking forward to sleeping in a little later than usual and i am looking forward to being at home together. plus, an extra bonus, we have no sporting events or practices on the calender next week, so we truly will be at home. i actually thought we'd get away to the beach for a few days, but now being at home sounds so much more enjoyable.

i am happy it's friday! are you?  it has been a busy first full of week of school and i am happy we are finally at the end of the week. my sweet little sia is still adjusting to a full day of kindergarten and i know she will be happy that she doesn't have to go tomorrow. and, i will be happy to see her sweet smiling face in the morning instead of tears as she gets on the school bus.

i am looking forward to making pizza tonight and we have no true weekend plans besides savoring some family time together.  whatever your plans i hope you have a happy friday and great weekend too!!

friday + the last weekend.

it's friday. it is our last weekend of summer break before the new school year begins on monday. really. it is so hard to believe we will be back at the bus stop early monday morning. we've already met the teachers and turned in all of our school supplies. and now, we have one last weekend to celebrate summer, relax and enjoy!

okay, so i know... it's been more than two weeks since i have written or posted anything at all. however, two and a half weeks ago we returned home from n.j. and found that our refrigerator had been hit by lightning during a storm. luckily, it was the only thing damaged in our home, however, it prompted me to begin looking for and purchasing new kitchen appliances. totally not what i had planned on doing this summer, but a new refrigerator was a necessity.

as i waited for our new appliances to be delivered, i also decided i'd like to strip my kitchen cabinets and re-paint them too. although, it has been quite a process during these past two weeks, i am very happy i dedicated myself to the job. i have just a small section to finish this weekend and i will totally done with my mini-kitchen-makeover.

and so, tonight i took a break from painting cabinets to make pizzas and enjoy some time with my girls. they both had fun taking turns snapping pictures of me as i was taking pizzas out of the oven. it was a great beginning to our weekend.

we've had such a busy week. i can hardly grasp the idea that it is already friday. my kids have been having so much fun with their cousins. it's been so fun watching them all together. tonight, i am hoping to enjoy a mojito with my sister-n-law while the kids continue to play. and tomorrow we are heading to the shore to enjoy one last day on the beach before heading back home next week!

hope you are having a happy friday. i have spent most of the day packing. i really do not like to pack, let alone times four. however, we finally are all packed and the kids and i (and my mom) are heading out very early in the morning for a long drive north up to new jersey. ever since slade was born, we've been spending part of our summers there with the family that we love. i will still be posting while we are away, but until i get unpacked and settled, here are some things i've seen that you might enjoy too. have a great weekend!

i am so glad it's friday, especially since my children are off from school all of next week. although, i would've enjoyed taking a family trip somewhere, i am happy we decided to just stay at home. i'm hoping to work on some home projects, including painting my office and getting it into order.

i've also asked each of my children to pick something fun they would like to do, perhaps something we've never seen or done before. i can't wait to hear their ideas.

for some reason, i've been waiting for friday to come all week.

it's just been one of those long weeks. the kids went back to school and we've had to re-adjust to getting up early and then rushing off to the bus stop in the dark. not fun. but i think we are finally back on track.

while the kids were in school, i tried to get myself re-organized after the holidays. however, still today i have all of my christmas decorations up and two christmas trees still standing. this is the weekend though. the weekend i plan of stripping my home of it all. it always makes me sad to take it all down. but, i am determined this weekend to pack it up, put it away and move on into the new year. time for renewal.

so while i am organizing and putting all my christmas decor away this weekend, i hope you'll enjoy some of these things-

i have lots of ideas on my list and hope to complete most of them. i plan on submerging myself in all things christmas. i have decorating to finish and christmas baking to begin. christmas cards to address and teacher's gifts to sew. christmas shopping to do and perhaps a date with my husband too.

baking today.

another friday. it's hard to believe. i'm baking and prepping today for the preschool bake sale tomorrow. have you ever tried a cranberry oat cereal bar? it's a creative version of the rice krispie treat. they are so simple to make (because there is no baking) and perfect to individually wrap for a bake sale. i'll also be making chocolate cupcakes, giant sugar-shortbread cookies with royal icing and oatmeal carmelitas. i'm already loving all the sweet aromas filling the air.... yum!

it's friday. i'm happy. i'm looking forward to a fun family weekend. tonight we are having pizzas, pumpkin carving and decorating sugar shortbread cookies. cooler weather has settled in and it's feeling like halloween. i know my children are very anxious to put on their costumes and start trick-or-treating!
