spring break.

I am back!!

During the past week, I went on a little retreat of my own, that is... away from the daily tasks of our everyday life. I needed some time to rejuvenate, relax and truly enjoy some time with my children.

On Monday morning of last week, we dropped Jeff off at the airport and the kids and I continued driving south to Santa Rosa Beach, a small town on the Gulf Coast of Florida. We spent most of our time on the beach, riding bikes, taking long walks and visiting with my sister, who now lives there.

Being on the beach (no matter what beach it is) induces a sense of inner peace for me. The sights, sounds and smells of the shore all have this potion of tranquility. I feel as if I totally belong.

Luckily, my children enjoy it just as much as I do. Slade loves digging holes, building sand castles and using a fishing net to find tiny fish and treasures in the surf. My girls, on the other hand, find enjoyment in jumping waves as they break against the shore and picking up shells and sea glass. Although on this particular trip, they found lots of broken sand dollars to fill their buckets.

So, our little excursion has come to an end. Spring Break is officially over. However, we are rejuvenated and at peace as we head back to school and our everyday life.

How did you spend your Spring Break? Did you find relaxation at a beach too??

  2. I too enjoyed my boy, Levi surfing the waves in Tobago. His Dad enjoys building sand castles as much as he does. The island locals gave Levi the island name "Castle Boy" for the time he spent digging and building! It was an interesting place and we very much enjoyed watching the giant Leatherback turtles come up from the sea each night to lay their eggs in the sand. It was amazing!
