happy 100 days of school!
it is customary at the elementary school for kindergartners to create an artful project displaying 100. slade celebrated 100 days last year with this sweet idea. it now proudly hangs in our toy room.
this year, elle celebrates the first 100 days of school with her love for pasta. she painted a bowl with a heart and added 100 pieces of ziti rigati.

project complete & the weekend.
last weekend, i told you i planned on painting a desk for sia's bedroom. (very, very) happily, i did complete the project as i intended. and sia was extremely happy to have a small writing desk in her bedroom on monday morning.
below is a picture of the desk before. actually it was a small vanity table. i removed the mirror, which will eventually be painted and put somewhere else in our home.
a couple of years ago, i was in search for a vanity for elle's room and couldn't believe when a dear aunt pulled this lovely piece from the trash alongside the road somewhere. however, it was just after i had already purchased one for elle. but, at least i have two girls and seemed to be the just the right size for sia's room. and so, i had no problem hauling this free piece offurniture back from new jersey.
this weekend, although i would enjoy working on another project like this, i will be taking slade to his first baseball practice of the season. and we'll be attending a couple of birthday celebrations too! along with church and religious education classes are weekend is full.
i hope you have a nice weekend. i'll see you back here on monday!

sisters.
i love the smiles on their faces.
these pictures were forwarded to me by the spanish teacher at our preschool. she took them one day while elle, who is now a big kindergartner, was visiting sia's 3-year old class for the day.

and this picture makes me proud. it makes me happy to see them holding hands walking down the school hallway. sticking together as sisters should.

good morning monday (and love).
how was your weekend? mostly, we stayed at home. and, i happily worked on a few (crafty) projects that have been on mind. sometimes, i see something i really, really like and i say "i can do that." and so, i do. usually incorporating some of my ideas and a little of me too.
like the paper wreath i saw on willows home and garden blog. loved it. and, had to do it. so, i tore out pages from an old paperback book and created my own version. slade and i crumpled the pages first and with glue, i attached them on a metal ring, which i had on hand from an old lamp shade. (i knew it would have a use someday!) after the ring was completely filled with pages, i hand-stamped a
i hung it in my foyer among meaningful things i love. like the pictures of our little girls. or my longtime dream of going to paris someday. the first letter of our last name- my love for typography. and especially, a watercolor of the very first home jeff and i purchased together. it was the house we brought all three of our babies home to. thoughtfully painted and given to us by jeff's uncle who was the reason for our very first dance and meeting almost 11 years ago.
so much meaning (and love) on this foyer wall. it was the perfect place to hang my love wreath. just in time for valentines day.
p.s. the house number pillow on our bench reads "endroit de la joie", which means "place of the joy" in french. so perfect, since my home is my place of joy, a place i love.
