what are your plans? i really feel like it's been the weekend all week long. although, we've stayed home because my children have been sick, i have really enjoyed the down time. i've enjoyed simple meals, playing games and reading books. we snuggled together on the couch and watched movies, made beaded necklaces and i painted toes with the girls.
no, it wasn't how i anticipated we would spend a week off from school, but i enjoyed the time just being a mom. i enjoyed spending time at home with my children without schedules or deadlines or tasks to be done. we slept in later than normal and sometimes, we wore pajamas all day long. we had the week off together with no where to go and it was wonderful.
i hope you had a wonderful week too. whatever your plans may be, i hope your weekend is happy. here are some things i've seen that you might like too-
breathtaking parking lot wedding

a little note.
slade left this sweet little note for the tooth fairy over the weekend. i found it again today as i was making the beds. he wrote it because he lost his tooth. i mean really lost it. he came home from school last friday and exclaimed he had lost a tooth. what??? he lost a tooth? i was totally unaware he even had a loose tooth!
it was true. he lost his bottom left tooth during recess. a ball had hit him right in the mouth. it literally knocked his tooth right out! despite an attempt to look for the it with his friends, the tooth couldn't be found... it was indeed lost.
and so, when he got home from school, he insisted on writing a little note to the tooth fairy just to let her know. he placed the note under his pillow that night and very happily he received two shiny susan b. anthony dollars for his lost tooth.
i know i asked it almost a year ago when slade lost his first tooth, but just wondering... what is the going rate for a tooth these days?? seems like i received a quarter for each tooth many years ago!

not so much fun.
remember i said i would let you know on monday how we would be spending a fun week off from school?? well, elle came down with a stomach virus thursday night and my poor little girl is still not feeling well today. and then this evening, the virus took over slade. so, two of my three children are feeling quite badly. lucky though, they are out of school this week, not missing much and can just relax at home. so, that's we are on this monday... not so much fun, but just happy to be at home.
p.s.- a few weeks ago, i bought each of my children these small chalkboards at the dollar store. however, i have been having fun using them to leave messages around our home.

happy friday.
i am so glad it's friday, especially since my children are off from school all of next week. although, i would've enjoyed taking a family trip somewhere, i am happy we decided to just stay at home. i'm hoping to work on some home projects, including painting my office and getting it into order.
i've also asked each of my children to pick something fun they would like to do, perhaps something we've never seen or done before. i can't wait to hear their ideas.
i hope you have a happy friday and enjoy your weekend. here are some things i've seen that you might like too-
embellished to a tee
a dress for me
love this rainbow party
and more ideas here
this i wanted to know
and, pick three (or more)
have a great weekend! see back here on monday, hopefully with some ideas of how we are going to spend the week off from school!

more often.
i often wonder why we don't get together more often? last night, i put together a small birthday celebration here at home. my children went to bed, friends arrived and the party began. i served roasted garlic with french bread, spicy tomato shrimp, bruschetta and a wonderful tray of cheeses and crackers with fruit and nuts was brought. (thank you simone!)
it was exactly the night i needed. we chatted a lot. we laughed. and laughed some more. and before the night ended, we celebrated two birthdays with my favorite semi-homemade cupcakes. it was such a fun night. really... we must do it more often!

done.
we are officially finished with making valentines this year. slade finished his up late yesterday afternoon. he had used this idea before while in preschool, however, it's a different school and different classmates, so i went along with it. (added bonus, we had the chocolate race cars already on hand). this year though, slade did most of the work himself. he even had the idea to create one for a girl and another for a boy.
as for elle, i saw this idea on babble and thought it was the perfect alternative to sweets and rather inexpensive. also, it can be given to either a boy or a girl. elle was sure she would be handing out the best valentine in her kindergarten class.

and why not mix up some cupid's crunch this weekend? i think i might try it too! i hope you have a great weekend... see you back here on valentine's day monday!

valentines delivered.
since sia will not be in school on valentines day, she proudly delivered valentines to her preschool class today. i really love the way they turned out. i saw this genius idea last year and sia gladly obliged when she knew that all of her friends would get a big lollipop.
and, here's the gift i put together to give the teachers from the entire preschool class-- a small plant, blooming with hearts. inside the cards are reasons why each student loves their teacher. some of the answers were just so, so sweet. others were completely silly! i loved hearing what all of the children had to say.
thankfully, i now have the whole weekend to work on slade and elle's valentines and treats for their classes. i am loving that valentines day falls on a monday this year!

just a thought.
i think i said good-bye too many times this morning.
i thankfully hugged my sweet in-laws and said good-bye as they got into their car and headed back home after visiting for a week.
with teary eyes, i kissed and hugged my husband good-bye before he left home, boarded a plane and headed back to work.
at the bus stop, i waved goodbye to slade and elle as their bus pulled away and headed off to school.
and lastly, i dropped sia off at preschool and with a smiley, "i love you" good-bye she got out of the car and went with into the school with her teacher.
i am not really a fan of good-byes. perhaps we should always say "see you soon!" maybe then, some good-byes would be a little easier.
